Window Shopping At Bergdorf Goodman

You may have noticed that I am a fan of & get my inspiration from shopping windows. One particular time of the year I wait patiently for and look forward to, is the reveal of the holiday display windows, especially those of Bergdorf Goodman. This year the theme was “Carnival of the Animals” which took two full weeks to install and took David Hoey (Bergdorf's director of visual presentation) & the visual team of BG, 60% of the years work hours to make this fantasy come to life!

All I have to say is that these windows are amazing! There are 5 wonderful worlds that each tell a story and amaze with the amount of detail in the window. There are tropical birds, an aquarium, zebras and dalmatians, a north pole party and amazing hunting extraordinaire. What more could we ask for?!? I truly admire their imagination, creativity and patience. Take a look and let us know what you think xx

Tip Of The Week:Top Asked Questions

Now that we have tackled wedding planning myths, here are the top most asked questions of wedding planner and my answers of course!

1. How do we figure out our budget?
Depending on which city you live in, the average cost of a wedding in Australia can be up to $50,000. There are two ways to work out your budget, either research (or ask your wedding planner) how much the costs are in your city or alternatively work out with your family how much you can afford to spend on the wedding. The costs are broken down into several categories (venue, photographer, florist, menu, wedding attire etc). Usually the wedding reception area will be the most expensive followed by either the photographer or the florist. It is best to decide which areas of the wedding are important to you.

2. How do we select a wedding date?
Because Australia is so wonderful with the weather there is no official 'off season' as such to get married in. Selecting a perfect date for you will depend on you, your fiance and your families. If work or school indicate your schedule, it is best to first work out the dates that will suit you and your fiance (then your immediate family and later friends). If you have found your perfect ceremony or reception venue, check what dates they are available because sometimes you will have to work around them! It is also a great idea to check out what other events are taking place in the area when you want to get married to ensure there is enough transport and accommodation available for all of your guests.

3. Music: Live band, DJ or a CD?
I would like to say that the music really depends on your budget. Also check if your reception area has any restrictions regarding live bands or the amount of noise allowed at the venue. If you are choosing a live band, you will need to arrange what kind of music you would prefer and think about all of your guests attending. With a DJ it is a little bit easier as they rely on CD's. If you have invested in other areas of your wedding and haven't left too much for the music then pre made CD's could be an option.

4. How can we save money?
Here are a few tips:
~ Keep your wedding guest list below a 100 guests
~ Consider who is attending the wedding & what they are likely to drink e.g. perhaps by consumption might work better instead of a package if there are guests who do not drink alcohol or if the event is taking place earlier in the day
~ Keep your wedding party small
~ Set a limit for your wedding attire - it is so easy to get carried away :)
~ Talk to your planner about which vendors to select e.g. don't rush into anything and always have several quotes

Diy : Christmas Lightened Pinecone Arrangement

Each year I like to do a DIY project & make something for Christmas as it helps me get in the spirit of things. Last year I did a wonderful cone like hanging ornament. My inspiration is Martha Stewart of course. Currently, I am planning a few Christmas parties and I came across this stunning DIY project that I just cannot pass up! I guess this is what I will be making in my spare time. Enjoy xx

Into:

Pinecone "flowers" with glowing centers fill a simple vase in this exquisite arrangement. For the petals, snip woody scales from pinecones, and glue them to plastic flowers on specialty string lights. Arrange the lights in a vase, and add tiny pinecones on wire stems for a lush, compact bouquet. Set it on a side table or a mantel for easy cord-hiding.

You Will Need:
Pinecones
Flower lights
Hot-glue gun
Vase (a cylinder vase works well; an opaque one hides the cords)
Electrical tape
Floral wire
Extension cord

Step 1.
Clip scales from large pinecones. Remove a plastic flower from a string of flower lights. Hot-glue scales behind the plastic petals, making 2 rings of 5 each. Repeat for every third light. Clip flowers back onto lights.

Step 2.
Gather lights into small bundles of 2 or 3 (leaving some pinecone flowers single); use floral wire to wrap their wires together, creating "stems" about 4 inches long.

Step 3.
Gather bundles together. Near the ends, wrap with electrical tape to secure, leaving the end of the cord loose to attach to an extension cord. Place in a vase. (A cylinder vase works well; an opaque one hides the cords.)

Step 4.
Give small pinecones wire stems: Cut 8-inch lengths of floral wire; wrap the middle of 1 wire around bottom of 1 pinecone, and twist wire ends together. Tuck "stem" into arrangement. Continue to fill out bouquet as needed, arranging the lights in a pleasing way.
