We all know how social media is a large and ever expanding part of our lives. This week we are sharing a few insights on how you can use social media for your next event.

Check out this poster to see how more than ever we are sharing our photos, content, emails, shopping, blogging & collaborating online. (Please click on the image to enlarge :)

Here are some ideas;

Facebook Group

Previously we have informed you how you can create your own website for your event alternatively you can also create a Facebook Group. Not only will this save you money but it will also be super easy getting all of your friends to join as most of them are likely to already have a Facebook account. Positives: Your group can be private so that you do not offend those who are not invited. You can upload and share photos, details of event & even have reminders. Plus now that Skype and Facebook have joined forces you can live video chat to your group members as well.

Google +

Google + is a fairly new concept and comes with amenities such as Circles, Sparks, Hangouts (qute similar to FB). Circles fall under the same concept as Facebook friend lists. A posting you do in Google+ can deploy publicly or to specific Circles, so your Circle can consist of your event guests and/or vendors. Sparks allow you to sort the topics you’re interested in so you can find them easier online e.g. catering, music, flowers etc. Hangouts give you the opportunity for live video chat with your guests.

Twitter

Create your own hashtag e.g. #JohnLovesMary and use your Twitter account to update your friends, post pics via Twitpic or Instagram (love Instagram!). Use your hash tag on your invitations so that more people can join in on your conversation.

QR Codes

qrcode
QR codes allow us to make online navigation easier and share the information faster. A few good ways to use QR codes would be for a website e.g. David Jones for your wedding registry, You Tube videos where you could have a preview of the event or messages for your guests, RSVP sites etc. The creative opportunities are endless!!! To create your own code visit this QR Generator site.
