Happiness, Life and Living with the Dalai Lama

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the flood relief event with the Dalai Lama yesterday in Brisbane. The Tibetan spiritual leader spoke to thousands of flood victims about overcoming adversity and not dwelling on grief. He told the crowd the best path to true happiness was making others happy and showing love and compassion to all - including enemies.
"Never forget the sin, but always love the sinner. Make the distinction between action and actor," he said.
He spoke of the sadness he felt when one of his teachers died, and said it is logical to mourn when "a solid rock on which [you] can lean is no longer there".
"I think your loved one would suffer to know your condition. Continue to live with full enthusiasm and then your late friend will be happy," he said.
"Some sort of problem will always be there. But we have the power to produce inner peace."
The Dalai Lama spoke to the youth of Australia and advised that they hold the power to "really build a happy world".
"The 20th Century was one of bloodshed, one of violence. This century should be one of peace".
"Make a more peaceful world, a more compassionate world - the responsibility is on your shoulders."
