Tip Of The Week: Creating a One Of A Kind Dress

This week we will focus on fashion! Now is the time when brides all around the country are gathering ideas and planning their special day. A HUGE part of that special day is the dress. While many choose a designer they like and purchase their dresses well in advance there is another route- making your own one of a kind gown. Here are our tips to help you create your chic dress xx

1. Inspiration: Find dresses in magazines, online, TV (anywhere!) that inspire you and collect!

2. Think about the fabric: While you might love silk, remember that it can be difficult to work with and will require time and an experienced seamstress. Regardless, it is the most elegant material and totally appropriate for a wedding dress.

3. Plan ahead: One of a kind custom dress will take 5-6 months to create so you need to start planning far in advance in order to be ready for your big day.

4. Collect: Everything! Receipts, material, style numbers etc. Once the dress is made you might want to make it longer or fuller and you will need that information!

5. The Seamstress: Think about who you hire. Check out what dresses they have made, how the previous brides vision turned into reality, ask for testimonials and most importantly you must be comfortable with the person who is making your dress.
