1. Seating Cards: The classic way is to have a small envelope with the guests name and the seating table noted on the card inside. Many brides are however choosing one location to display all the cards with the seating table noted on them (see image above). The seating cards can have bows, flowers or any other images or themes that apply to the wedding on them to make them more personal. The formal way to write on your cards is "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and the table number noted below "Table 6". The informal way is to use their names "Angelina and Brad"(had to do it!!). Also seating cards are placed in an alphabetical order (by the last name)
2. Place Cards: These are found on the allocated table. It is a good idea to have a few boards scattered around (e.g. at each of the entrances to the reception) with the guests name and the table number. Once they reach their table, they will be advised of the seat that has been allocated to them. Some people use this option to introduce people (see our previous post on merging friendship circles) or to alternate males and females on the table. Place cards should include the first and the last name of the guests. To assist everyone in getting to know their names a great idea is to write the names at the front and the back of the place cards :)
