I love gorgeous elegant flower balls at weddings, baby showers or even bridal showers. The name itself comes from the French word 'pomme d'ambre' - the apple of amber or a ball of perfume. Interestingly enough they were carried to protect against infections and diseases by modifying bad smells. They are such delicate items that are easy to make but have such a beautiful effect. Here is a simple way to create this for your next event. Enjoy xx
You will need (hello Spotlight):
- white styrofoam ball (select which size you would like- the one below is 4'')
- 90 to100 pearl tipped corsage pins
- 2 sheets of paper (the one below is pearlized pink and matte pale pink from the
scrapbooking section)
- Martha Stewart hydrangea punch (you can get this online but they definitely have it at
Spotlight!)
Step 1
Punch 180-200 of the hydrangea petal shapes (around a sheet and a half of 12×12 paper)
Step 2
After the shapes are all punched, curl the edges of the petals upward and to the center. This will give the flowers some dimension when they are complete.
Step 3
Stack two of the flower petals together and turn them a bit so they look like a full flower. Stick a corsage pin straight through the center of your petals.
