Last Saturday I attended a wedding in Melbourne and yes, I do not know my way around. Unlucky for me, the taxi driver tried to get me to the chapel however Swanson St (one of the main and very long streets in the city) was under construction. This meant that I not only had to guess where I was going but I didn't have much time either. Basically I was running (in my gown) up five blocks to the church only to realise that it is on the other side of the street (yikes) which I couldn't cross due to the construction. After running one more block up and down, I finally made it to the chapel. Lucky for me, the bride had the same issue and was 1 hour late!
This is a fine example of a guest not knowing their way around a city and some unexpected events occurring! Recently I have noticed illustrated wedding maps and since my fiasco on Saturday I must say I am a fan. Here are a few examples...
The tip for this week is to ensure your guests make it to your wedding! While this is totally out of your hands, you may guide them in the right direction. You may hire a graphic designer to create the maps for you or you can actually create them yourself. A wonderful website, Our Wedding Mapper, will let you do just that. Ok, so it might not be as fancy as the graphic design ones but it will do a wonderful job under a small budget and ensure that you have done everything you possibly could to ensure your guests know where they are going!
